VALERIE IS AN ARTIST WITH A RANGE OF INTERESTS SPANNING ACROSS THE DISCIPLINES OF ART, BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, AND HISTORY.
SHE GRADUATED FROM YALE UNIVERSITY WITH TWO BACHELORS IN ART WITH A CONCENTRATION IN PAINTING, AND MOLECULAR CELLULAR DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY.
SHE HOLDS A MASTERS FROM RHODE ISLAND SCHOOL OF DESIGN IN GLOBAL ARTS AND CULTURE, WHERE HER RESEARCH EXPLORED THE TRANSMISSION OF COLONIAL TRAUMA AT THE US-MEXICO BORDER THROUGH EPIGENETICS AND WEAVING.
SHE IS A RECIPIENT OF THE RICHARD U. LIGHT FELLOWSHIP (JAPAN, 2019), YALE CREATIVE AND PERFORMING ARTS AWARD (2020), AND RISD FELLOWSHIP (2021).
SHE'S BEEN THE ILLUSTRATION EDITOR OF YALE DAILY NEWS (2018-2020), AND A MEMBER OF THE YALE SLAVIC CHORUS (2018-2021).
MOST RECENTLY, SHE WORKED AT A HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL AFFILIATE LAB STUDYING EPIGENETIC PRECURSORS FOR DIABETES.
CURRENTLY, VALERIE IS INSTRUCTING ART TO CHILDREN IN HOSPICE ACROSS VARIOUS CLINICS IN ARIZONA, AND LIKES TO GIVE GALLERY TALKS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH PRACTICES. SHE ALSO IS A COFOUNDER, ILLUSTRATOR, AND WRITER FOR JUNGLE PUBLICS. IN HER FREE TIME, SHE LOVES TO READ, WRITE, AND LISTEN TO MUSIC WITH HER PET CAT, EVIE.
